What To Expect

Laguna Quilotoa
When the Quilotoa volcano last erupted in 1280, it left behind a gaping caldera 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) across, which is now filled with brilliant turquoise water. The word “quilotoa” comes from the local Quechua language, a group native to the central Andes region.

Quilotoa Rocks!

This was more amazing than I ever expected. The pictures here don’t grasp how awesome of a place Quilotoa is and the surrounding area. It is far more massive in person and the crater is ginormous. I’m still in awe days later of this experience. You can either walk the rim or walk within the canyon. The walk around the rim is far easier. The walk inside the crater is gorgeous but is kinda straight down and then…. Straight up. If you go within I’d recommend taking a mule back up so you can enjoy the scenery more. Also the tour group was awesome. The bus ride was stupendous and we even had the opportunity to sit on the top of the bus (safely) and see all the plains and beautiful landscape of Ecuador. 100/10 experience.

Adrian and Carlos were the perfect guides, they knew shortcuts and stopped on the journey to show us different plants and foods and most importantly volcanoes. We saw 12 at once from one view point. The lagoon was incredible and beautiful, the hike was tough back to the top, with the altitude and my asthma I didn’t know if I could do it but both guides helped me all the way down and up and I had an amazing sense of achievement at the end. An incredible trip all round and I’d recommend with these guides all day,
Great from Beginning to End

My favorite part of this tour was getting to see the llamas. The entire experience was great - from the views during the drive to the hike back up for a great lunch. Our guide and our driver were great.

I would certainly recommend this tour and would do it again. Thanks to Adrian.
Great tour guide, venues don’t justify the price or drive time

Our guide Oscar was very good - the distance from Quito - 7 hour round trip driving is a bit much for the value. The trip to the indigenous home was very good and the creator volcano is a must see however there is little to do other than hike down and walk (or take the mule ride up)
