Great Tour, Great Company

Ismael is an excellent guide and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him. He is considerate and knowledgeable. I had booked a tour earlier in the week and added this one because of him. This is a completely different part of the country and very beautiful. The stop at the chocolate factory was great and I loved the hike to the waterfalls. Ismael picked me up at my hotel and dropped me off at another on time to meet up with my next tour group. I highly recommend this tour.

Pato was a wonderful guide to Mindo forest. His English is excellent and he is very knowledgeable about the Andes and the history of the area. We visited the Mariposa Rio and saw so many butterflies of different species. We also visited an excellent San Tadeo bird watching area and we’re able to see so many species of hummingbirds and toucans as well as an Agouti. The owner was very kind and knowledgeable. Pato took us to lunch Casa de Dana where we had an excellent trout prepared to perfection. The view from this restaurant / hotel was phenomenal. Finally we hiked down to a waterfall and experienced the jungle from inside! Pato was very knowledgeable about the area, volcano and flora and fauna. We had a great time. He was also very thoughtful for my husband who has a walking disability.
A fabulous experience!

We stayed in Quito for a couple of days and wanted to use one of those days to get out of the city to explore the cloud forest. I am so glad we found Pato who put a wonderful tour together for us based on our preferences.

He took us bird watching to a place with an amazing variety of wild birds incl. tucans and many different hummingbirds. From there we saw a butterfly sanctuary with the opportunity to get those butterflies to sit on our finger or hand. All of this gave an impressive reflection of the diversity of flora and fauna in this part of Ecuador.

Next was a lunch at an amazing, a little bit tugged away restaurant. I literally hadn’t had that good of a trout in a long time. Finally, Pato took us on a cable car ride across a valley to reach some stunning waterfalls.

What a day! Frankly, it felt less of a guided tour, but rather than a day spent with a good friend who made it a special experience in every way. I highly recommend Pato.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience

We had a fantastic day with our guide Ismael, from the start of the meeting to the end of the day, when he dropped us off at a local restaurant that he recommended.

Ismael met us promptly in the morning for the drive up to the crater. Along the way, he shared information about Quito and Ecuador. The drive was pleasant, and it felt more like we were on a road trip with a mate as the conversation flowed seamlessly. Our second stop was the delightful hummingbird sanctuary, where we learned more about the history of the forestation efforts in that region since the 1980s. It is a must-stop for nature lovers.

Our next stop was the zipline, of which we completed three ziplines. Having a bit of hesitance due to my fear of heights, one of the guides accompanied me throughout the three lines. So well done to them for doing such a great job so that I can enjoy the experience. They thoroughly explained the safety measures and ensured that we were all comfortable during the experience. There is a little hike up from one zipline to another through well-paved tracks. If you think you are moderately unfit, you can certainly take your time to catch your breath.

The last stop was the chocolate factory which was informative and quite decadent, I must say. We were treated to locally made chocolate of a different variety, and it is good to know that it is free from artificial colorings and preservatives!

We had lunch at this cute little restaurant in the forest. The food was delicious, and the local beverage (alcoholic) – was even better!

I thoroughly recommend this tour, the booking was seamless from the beginning, and the tour operator responded to my queries timely before the day. Ismael followed up the tour with more recommendations which we are grateful for.
Pleasant journey
