Plaza de la Independencia (Plaza Grande)

Here the guide will give an explanation of the monument that is located in the central part of the square that commemorates the first cry of independence, the cathedral of Quito, El Palacio de Carondelet.

El Panecillo

After the Pick up our first stop will be at the natural viewpoint of Panecillo, which is located at 3035 meters above sea level, formerly known as “shungoloma” or heart hill. In addition to having a 360-degree view of the city, here is a large-scale (45m) copy of the Virgin of Legarda that is displayed on the main altar of the church of San Francisco.

Here our guide will take you to visit replicas of the ancestral houses of the inhabitants of Ecuador. We will also visit the chocolate museum to learn more about the process of making chocolate with fine aroma cocoa. Our guide will also demonstrate through interactive games, the physical phenomena that only occur in the Middle of the World. Then, we will be able to observe the monument built in honor of the French scientific expedition that located exactly the geographical position of the equatorial line that divides the world and take an original and fun photograph in both hemispheres. Our guide will take you inside the monument to visit the ethnographic museum and learn about the Ecuadorian indigenous cultures and nationalities.

We had family travelling from different countries to Ecuador for an end of year vacation. I coordinated everything with Henry through WhatsApp and a joint excel sheet, he was always providing good insights and accommodating our needs (even last minute flight changes).

The guides (Andres and Roberto) where very professional, gave the private tour in two languages and made our experience fantastic (especially as we where travelling with kids and a toddler).
