Otavalo Market

The Otavalo Market, which makes this market town famous, is undoubtedly one of the most important and spectacular markets in all of Latin America. Cuicocha Lake

It is a 3 km (2 mi) wide caldera and crater lake at the foot of Cotacachi Volcano in the Cordillera Occidental of the Ecuadorian Andes. Its name comes from the Kichwa indigenous language and means "Lago del Cuy" or Guinea Pig Laguna in English. It was given this name due to the guinea pig shape of the largest Island in the middle of the laguna. These animals play a significant part in the everyday life of Ecuadorians

Cascada de Peguche

Located in Peguche community, just 5 minutes northwest of the town of Otavalo. Peguche Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall of 18 m in height, formed by the river of the same name, which starts at Lake San Pablo. The waterfall is one of the most important tourist attractions of Otavalo. Because of its proximity and easy access, several tourists and visitors come to the sector to meet and enjoy a unique landscape.

Fun day shopping

This was different than I expected, our guide and driver were awesome and we had a beautifully clear day to see all the Volcanos. They took us first to a nicer shop to see the process of making some of the tapestries and the shop had excellent quality goods. Then we headed to the market which we went on a Saturday so it was huge. We gave our kid (10 & 12) some cash and they had a blast shopping. We then went to another area for lunch which was excellent. This area is known for its leather goods which shops had some really good stuff.

I hired Daniel Maldonand for this tour and he provided an excellent experience. He was friendly, nice and tailored the day to my interests. (Bonus for me is he speaks excellent English). His knowledge of his country is outstanding and he patiently explained everything to me. It was a great day and I left feeling like I had a new friend.
Furthermore, after I moved on to Banos, he consistently helped me with recommendations for restaurants, clubs and even another tours while i was there. His amazing service greatly increased the quality of my overall trip to Ecuador. Please don't hesitate to book anything with him. Amazing First Day in Ecuador

For my first day in Ecuador, I booked the day tour to Otavalo and Cuicocha Lagoon. As Ecuador was the first country in South America that I visited, I was a little apprehensive as to what to expect. However, my guide Daniel did an amazing job and completely put me at ease. Despite the weather not being great and tiredness on my part from traveling the day before, Daniel managed to keep my interest and remained fully engaged for the entire day. He did an awesome job giving me an introduction to Ecuador, and specifically Otavalo and Cuicocha Lagoon. I spent over two weeks in Ecuador with various guides on different tours and Daniel was by far the best. He was passionate, extremely knowledgeable, and made the day very enjoyable. He is a credit to the company and when I return to Ecuador, he will be the guide that I will request.

Don't miss this day trip, Even if you are not inclined to buy, the colors and variety of things to see are great. All of the vendors we came in contact with were very friendly and accommodating.

purchased coats, blankets, tablecloths, scarfs for gifts. colorful, had fun, did instead of tour activities, and rest of group from exotica, a very poorly run tour, wish they would have joined us
