Reviews

A nicely balanced tour to cover the essentials.

We booked the evening before because we had just arrived and the weather was looking iffy. We weren’t sure someone would actually pick us up but Diego arrived right on time despite Sunday road closures all around us. He was very knowledgeable and ready to answer all our questions. We covered all the highly recommended sights and had a short chocolate tasting too. The threatened rain held off until our last 15 mins. Perfecto!

All places are great for one day stay in Quito. Just we had a high altitude sickness. So we missed some parts.

Essential First Day Experience

Diego was a perfect guide. He told me our itinerary and asked if I would like any modifications. He was warm and open and knowledgeable, providing a complex historical and cultural explanation of the many sights of old town, and answering my many questions. He dealt with stressful traffic effortlessly and adjusted our itinerary when the cable car needed work so we we didn’t waste time there. The equator museum was delightful and fascinating. It might seem like a hokey thing to do but the simple, hands on activities were wonderfully informative. We went to the city in the near by caldera and though it was too foggy to see much, Diego used the opportunity to explain the microclimates of the area. Though it was getting late, we returned to the cable car where there was now no line at all and we had our own car to the top. Diego did not hurry me and i was able to walk along the steep ridge for more views. This tour provided a wonderful overview and orientation to Quito and Ecuador and I am now very comfortable walking on my own through old town and over to the National museum. I highly recommend taking this tour on your first day in Quito.
