Overview

Cotopaxi is the second-highest volcano in Ecuador with a height of 5897 meters. It is located in the eastern mountain range of the Andes. It is surrounded by other mountains such as Sincholagua, Pasochoa, and Rumiñahui, all within the avenue of volcanoes. With its wonderful symmetrical shape, it is an excellent stratovolcano, translated from Quichua into Spanish as the neck of the moon.

We had the most amazing day with Pedro and Jimmy!
Pedro's knowledge about culture, history and nature was very impressive. He guided us safely to the glacier and always made sure we were ok with the altitude. He was genuine fun to be around and we enjoyed every minute. Jimmy the driver was excellent and we felt safe at all times. He was the best driver we had so far.
This was by far the best tour we have had so far on our travel through Central and South America. Thank you Pedro and Jimmy!
Cotopaxi- great success!

Pedro was full of great information, took us to wonderful restaurants and led us all the way to the glacier and back safely. Jimmy - our driver - handled the rough terrain expertly too. Overall fantastic day!

Our tour with Pedro was amazing, and he was a delight! He was extremely knowledgeable, kind and fun. The perk of this tour was that it was private, so we could go at our own speed and tailor as needed. Given the high altitude and varying conditions, I'd recommend a private guide over a bigger group so you can adjust however works best for you. We also got to stop at various spots for souvenirs and a wonderful meal after the hike. I would caution to maybe adjust a few days to altitude before heading out to Cotapaxi, if you're coming from sea level.
