Worth the time and money!

This was a GREAT experience! We ended our Galapagos adventure with this tour and NO regrets! We are world travelers and this was another wonderful addition to our world travel stories! The winding roads from Quito into the Amazon can cause some nausea if you are prone to motion sickness.
The Lodge is beautiful. The food is great! The staff and guides are just perfect! Learning how chocolate is made was so fun! Rafting and trekking through the jungle and night hikes were sooo fun! Definitely do this if you want a quick trek into the Amazon basin!

This was a beautiful place to stay at, and all of the employees were friendly, funny and helpful. I recommend staying for at least three days. Some of my favorite activities included visiting the monkey river beach, tubing down a river, and swimming in waterfalls. The guides are very knowledgeable about the area which makes the tours even more exciting. I would definitely go back here again!!
Napo Wildlife Center & Ecuador Amazon

Just returned from a marvelous 4 day stay and wildlife experience at the Napo Wildlife Center. We began our journey and chose this option after consulting with Happy Gringo a tour company in Ecuador (I will review Happy Gringo in a separate post). While we had choices of places to stay, we decided on this because it was the ONLY accommodation located inside the reserve. This meant all our expeditions began on the reserve, we didn't give up precious time to actually get into the reserve. We flew from Quito to Coca which was approximately a 25-minute flight and well worth the time saved had we attempted to make the drive. (I cannot comment on the drive since we did not do it and really didn’t have the time to attempt it.) They have a seamless transfer system from airport to reserve. Upon arrival at Coca airport, we were met by a representative who guides you from the beginning of your journey, at the airport to the start of a 2-hour speed boat ride along the Napo River. We were served a box lunch on this journey in recyclable pouches. At a certain point the speed boats are not allowed any further on the river and everyone is transferred to a number of canoes which begins another 2-hour journey up the river being rowed by a naturalist guide and assistant. It truly was magical and while I had read these are the means of transportation I couldn’t relate to the enchantment of the experience. The Napo Wildlife Center is run and staffed with the indigenous people; their goal is to share the wonders of their treasured rainforest. The center was nice, rooms were accommodating, there is no air conditioning but really it is part of the experience. Sunscreen and a good insect repellent are essential, we had no problem with either of these so I guess our choice of products sufficed. The food was very good and all prepared-on site. There was even a birthday cake for a guest experiencing a birthday while there. All meals are included which I guess would be essential as there is nowhere else to go. The guides speak English well and much of the staff understands. Every evening your assigned guide goes over the planned schedule for the next day’s activities which usually begin early in the morning. Their trained hearing and eyesight fulfill the experiences of the day. We saw so much wildlife I cannot even begin to list from insects to numerous mammals, I still feel the awe of the moments and will cherish the memories they created. A visit to the self-sustaining community of indigenous people was enlightening, how they have maintained their culture and ideals while offering education and medical services was awe inspiring in their community of less than 100 families. At the end of our stay, we were returned to Coca airport in reverse order of our arrival. I felt the return trip even more breathtaking since it begins very early under the cover of shear darkness. The wonderment of the sounds was dreamlike and the ability of the rowers to navigate in darkness and identify the sounds was astonishing. I encourage you to consider this option, and even if a few dollars more, you’ll forget the cost, but you’ll never forget the memories created. Remember also this is their livelihood, read up on tipping, they deserve to be tipped don’t over tip but try to be fair.
The Mystical Rainforest

We stayed at Suchiparki Jungle Lodge and had a wonderful time. Lot's of hiking, swimming, tubing and enjoying the beauty of the Amazon. The lodge is nestled 8 km off the road in the rainforest and is a perfect place to escape the noise of the world and listen to the rain. The staff and guide took care of everything and made our stay memorable. We would highly recommend this trip.

Carlos was an excellent and attentive guide. He is very knowledgeable and excited about the Ecuador amazon and its people. Animals, culture and customs. Con's long drive from Quito each way. Lots of rain every day. 1 day is very busy and then lots of downtown 2nd day. Food at hotel is fair.
